Evenings with Jesus

A moment to pause, encounter Jesus through Scripture, and rest in his presence at the close of the day.

THE GOSPEL

Open John 15:18–27 in the Bible Reader.

Jesus prepares his disciples for opposition from the world. He reminds them that they are not alone: the Holy Spirit will testify to the truth about him.

REFLECTION

Following Jesus will not always bring understanding or acceptance. Yet even when the world turns against them, Jesus promises his disciples the help of the Spirit, who will bear witness to him.

We can rest tonight knowing that faithfulness does not depend on everyone understanding us. Jesus has not left us alone.

DISCOVER

What has Jesus entrusted to you today, and how might you use it faithfully?

PRAYER

Jesus, help me recognise what you have entrusted to me. Teach me to use it faithfully and generously, with a heart that sees and cares for others. Amen.

Rest a little more deeply in the love of Jesus tonight.
